Help Demi help Iris get better fund

Hi, my name is Sioux and I am helping my friend Demi take care of her beloved companion, Iris who was badly injured during a carefree romp in the woods! More details about how and what happened are below. The short version is that Iris somehow ran into and was punctured in her side by part of a log that then fractured inside her - causing damage to her large intestine that has required surgery and $11,000 in veterinary expenses (so far). Iris's energy is good, she is home and she is actively seeking out affection. All fingers and paws are crossed as Iris continues to heal. Any contribution you can make toward covering the cost of her care would be greatly appreciated.

 

 

The Story (in Demi's words):

Iris LOVES to run. Fast. She has a free spirit that most of the time is tethered to the end of a leash, but on certain occasions, she is allowed to run to her heart's content, always returning with a big goofy smile on her face and her tongue flopping out to the side. During one such recent occasion, I was tracking Iris on my phone as she ran about in the woods down by a friend's lake cottage . Eventually, her GPS tracker had her right outside the cottage door. Puzzled as to why I hadn't heard her come running back or why she wasn't poking her head in the door window, I went outside. It was immediately obvious that something was wrong. She had her tail tucked, ears back, and was hunched in a way that said "Mom, I'm hurt." I gently ran my hands along her body while scanning for signs of harm. My eyes came to rest on a large gash that ran along her side from her front elbow to her abdomen. Instinctively, I gave her a kiss and told her that everything was going to be OK. I helped her into the car and away we went, speeding in the direction of Cornell's Emergency Vet Hospital as I called to alert them we were on our way.
