Dolores is a devoted grandmother who has stepped up to care for her 13-year-old grandson, Isaiah, after the tragic loss of his father and his mother’s ongoing struggle with addiction. Dolores has no job and, for the past year, they have been without a working vehicle, making daily life and basic needs a constant challenge. I met Dolores through Isaiah, who often rides his bike around our neighborhood. When I learned that he didn’t have a reliable way to get to the bus for school, I started giving him rides, and soon, with friends, began helping Dolores as well. Dolores is a loving and protective guardian, always putting Isaiah’s needs first, but she simply doesn’t have the means to secure a car on her own. Despite these hardships, she remains deeply committed to Isaiah’s well-being and future.
