Delilah's Recovery

Donation protected
As some of you may know, Delilah Saunders survived a near-death experience in December 2017 thanks in part to an incredible groundswell of support. Following her weeks-long hospitalization for acute liver and kidney failure, Delilah faced a long recovery. After nearly 5 months, she registered in a residential PTSD/trauma and addictions rehabilitation centre in Toronto, where she just successfully completed her 6-week program.

Delilah has opted for further health care at the centre in the form of their 6-week extended care program, which begins on July 2, 2018. Those of us who hold Delilah dear are thrilled that she is on the road to recovery. Several of her friends are currently collecting funds to help defray the costs of Delilah’s stay in Toronto. Our goal is to collect enough money to pay for comfortable accommodation for Delilah for two 3-week periods both prior to and immediately after the program: June 13–July 1 (19 nights) and August 14–September 4 (21 nights).

We have located a short-term rental for $100/night near the rehab centre (where Delilah will be making regular visits prior to July 2 & after September 4). We have set our fundraising target at $4,500 to reflect the following:

40 nights x $100/night = $4,000 + $500 (toiletries, some food, transport).

Please consider supporting Delilah’s commitment to her health care.

**The account is set up by a team of Delilah’s friends led by novelist Carrianne Leung and university professor Darryl Leroux. The money will go directly to the cost of rent (excluding the $500 expense money divided into 2 portions). Any questions about the use of the money can be directed to us through this site.**
