Help Delilah Recover from Emergency Surgery

Delilah, my 8-year-old Yorkie, has always been more than just a pet—she’s been my comfort, my companion, and a source of joy for my family. I received Delilah as a gift from my parents for my 15th birthday, and from the moment I saw her, I knew she was special. As a child, I carried a plush Yorkie everywhere, named after the song “Hey There Delilah,” and when my parents surprised me with Delilah, my tears wouldn’t stop. She was so tiny she fit in the palm of my hand, and I spent many sleepless nights comforting her as she adjusted to her new home.

Delilah has always sensed when I needed her most, especially during my struggles with anxiety in high school and college. She would lay beside me and help me breathe through panic attacks, offering a kind of support only she could give. Her bond with my mom is just as strong, and watching both of them go through this difficult time has been incredibly painful for our family.

On Monday night, Delilah was diagnosed with Pyometra, a serious infection in the uterus of intact female dogs, after a visit to MedVet emergency clinic in Campbell. She underwent emergency surgery at Reed Animal Hospital, but complications arose when her uterus ruptured during the procedure. Dr. Rivera, who performed her surgery, recommended she be transferred back to MedVet for 24-hour hospitalization due to her high white blood cell count and the severity of her condition. After spending the night at MedVet, her care team is recommending an additional 24 hours of supervision because she hasn’t started eating yet.

The funds collected will primarily be used to cover Delilah’s surgery and hospitalization. My first priority is to keep her under close monitoring for the additional 24 hours the emergency clinic is recommending, which is financially challenging for me right now. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us and help give Delilah the care she needs to recover. Thank you for reading her story and for considering a donation to help our beloved Delilah.
