Six-year-old Delilah went into surgery expecting to return to school and play with her friends. Instead, complications during surgery changed her life forever.
Delilah was born with a rare condition that left her right lung severely underdeveloped. By the age of 3, she had already undergone several surgeries in hopes of helping her lung grow and function properly.
At age 6, doctors discovered that her right lung had never developed and was no longer receiving blood flow. Specialists from UCLA, UC San Diego, and CHOC recommended removing the lung to prevent life-threatening complications and give Delilah the best chance at a longer life.
On September 19, 2025, Delilah went into surgery with hope for a healthier future. Tragically, during the operation, she suffered cardiac arrest and had to be revived three times, causing brain damage due to lack of oxygen.
What was expected to be a two-week hospital stay became 150 days.
Delilah was finally able to come home on February 9, 2026, but her life has changed dramatically.
She now needs Neuroadaptive Therapy, a specialized treatment that can help her regain communication skills and work toward becoming the happy, active child she once was. Unfortunately, this therapy is not fully covered by insurance, leaving her family with overwhelming expenses.
The funds raised will help cover therapy, medical care, and other expenses related to Delilah’s recovery as she continues her journey toward healing.
Since the surgery, Delilah’s mom has remained by her side every step of the way.
We are asking for your support to help Delilah receive the therapy she needs and continue fighting for her recovery. Any donation, no matter the amount, and any share of this page will make a difference for Delilah and her family.
Thank you for taking the time to read Delilah’s story and for being part of her journey toward healing.
