Delilah, our sweet basset hound, has been a light in our lives since we brought her home as a puppy in 2020. That year was difficult for so many, but Delilah’s big doe eyes, floppy ears, and loving spirit made every day brighter for our family. She quickly became more than just a pet—she was our first baby before we had our human child, and she’s been a source of comfort and joy through every move and challenge, especially as a Navy family. Delilah’s gentle nature has touched the hearts of everyone she meets, and even our old neighbors still check in to see how she’s doing.
Last summer, Delilah was diagnosed with glaucoma in her right eye. Since then, she’s endured around 20 painful flare ups, requiring daily eye drops and eventually an injection to shut down her right eye, leaving her completely blind on that side. Just this week, while we were away for Christmas, her good eye flared up as well. The doctor now says she is completely blind, and the best way to keep her comfortable is to remove both eyes through a surgery called bilateral enucleation.
We are raising funds to help cover the cost of Delilah’s surgery so she can live pain-free and continue to feel the love of her family and friends. Delilah has brought so much happiness to our lives and to everyone she meets. Even if she can’t see the world anymore, we know she’ll still feel the warmth and kindness of those around her. Any support you can give means the world to us and will help Delilah live a long, happy life surrounded by love.
