For those of you that do not know, Delilah has been battling leukemia since March 2023. She was starting her 2nd semester of college. On March 7, 2023, Delilah Start a complaining about a sore throat and her lymph nodes were very swollen. Her pain was so severe, I end up taking Delilah to Advocate Christ Children's Hospital. At first they thought it was a virus. They did a additional test and a blood culture. We were sent home the next day. On March 8, 2023, I received the worst call a single mother can imagine. Her blood work came back with signs of Leukemia. We were admitted to hospital that same night at Advocate Christ Children's Hospital. On March 10th, Delilah was diagnosed with B-Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We have been in the hospital ever since undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Delilah gone through so much during her stay at the hospital. She stopped eating, due to pancreas inflammation, her liver was irritated with cause her to have jaundice. On March 31, Delilah was admitted to the PICU with fevers and low blood pressure.. By April 2, Delilah was diagnosed with a blood infection called Pseudomonas aeruginosa that was also affecting her lungs. April 6, The doctors found a fungus in Delilah blood as well..
April 10th Delilah was moved out of the PICU and to a regular floor unit.. So far everything was going good. She was able to celebrate her birthday on May 3rd at home with her family. Until we hit another Pot holes. May 5,2023 Delilah was admitted again to hospital for bilateral pain on her hips and knees. MRI showed fluids in her knees and hips and osteonecrosis that is known as bone death caused by poor blood supply due to having cancer. May 12, Delilah was back to PICU for fevers and extreme joint pain.Delilah blood culture showed an infection in her blood again. Even though there days Delilah wants to give up. She finds the will is to come back and fight.. Due to her treatment, I'm taking some absence from work without pay. Being a single mom of three and less money coming in, Delilah medical treatment has been hard for us financially. We appreciate all the support and prayers that people have been sending us.
