Hi, I am organizing this charity for one of our beloved, longtime swim instructors, Delila, on behalf of Academy Swim Club.

Delila has recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma. It is a rare cancer that affects the lymphatic system. As the cancer progresses, it limits the body's ability to fight infection. She will begin chemotherapy later this month for the next six months.

Delila has dedicated her young adult life to saving lives by teaching students of all ages to learn to swim and become safer around water. She has helped her community more than she will ever know. Unfortunately, Delila had to get a chemotherapy port installed and cannot be in the water instructing lessons. She will continue working with us as a Deck Supervisor and Newhall Site Manager for as long as possible.

Delila is kind, caring, charismatic and always goes above and beyond in everything she does. She truly cares for others and would do anything to help out those in need. She deserves as much love and support as possible.

The money raised will help Delila and her family tremendously by not having to worry about medical bills, students loans (recent graduate with a BA in Sociology & a Minor in Child Development), other living expenses, and needing to take time off of work from being sick or not having enough energy. We know Delila finds the process of asking others for help on this scale uncomfortable, but we know she will accept any donation with enormous gratitude.

Delila, and everyone who loves her, is staying positive through the battle. She does this by joking about her situation and would appreciate it if you would not show her overwhelming sympathy. Please treat her as you usually would.
