Hello, we are Delfi’s family and friends.

Delfi is 27 years old and dreams of walking again. Since 2015, she has been living in a wheelchair due to progressive paraparesis. For years, she consulted different doctors in Uruguay searching for answers, but without receiving a clear diagnosis or an effective solution.

In 2023, she decided to take a further step and traveled to Argentina to be treated at the Fundación Fleni. There, for the first time, she received an accurate diagnosis and a concrete treatment plan. Thanks to that, in 2025 she was able to undergo a procedure that significantly improved her quality of life and, most importantly, gave her something essential back: hope.

Today, she has a new opportunity.

Her doctors have recommended a complex surgery (distal femoral osteotomy, patellar lowering, and hamstring tenoplasty) that could help her regain mobility and get closer to her biggest dream.

The total cost of this surgery is $40,000 USD, an amount she cannot afford on her own, and that we, as her close circle, are unable to fully cover.

Hola, somos familiares y amigas de Delfi.

Delfi tiene 27 años y sueña con volver a caminar. Desde 2015 vive en silla de ruedas debido a una paraparesia progresiva. Durante años recorrió distintos médicos en Uruguay en busca de respuestas, sin lograr un diagnóstico claro ni una solución concreta.

En 2023 decidió dar un paso más y viajó a Argentina para atenderse en la Fundación Fleni. Allí, por primera vez, recibió un diagnóstico preciso y un tratamiento adecuado. Gracias a eso, en 2025 pudo someterse a una intervención que mejoró significativamente su calidad de vida y, sobre todo, le devolvió algo fundamental: esperanza.

Hoy tiene una nueva oportunidad.

Sus médicos le recomendaron una cirugía compleja (osteotomía femoral distal, descenso rotuliano y tenoplastia de isquiotibiales) que podría ayudarla a recuperar movilidad y acercarse a su mayor sueño.

El costo total de esta operación es de 40.000 USD, una suma que hoy no puede afrontar sola y que como entorno cercano tampoco podemos cubrir completamente.
