Hi! My name is Delaney, and I am a third-year Education, Democracy, and Justice major at UCSC looking to study abroad in Norway this summer! I have never traveled outside of California before and have dreamed of going to Norway since I was young. Money is really tight for me as is, so my ability to afford travel, room, food, and more feels out of reach.
I was approved to go to Oslo, Norway to attend the University of Oslo by UCEAP, and it would genuinely be a dream come true for me to go. I feel that being able to study in a culture so completely different from the one I was raised in would not only broaden my horizons but allow me to become more worldly and empathetic—something I feel is deeply important as a future teacher. I want to be able to teach my students to the best of my ability, and I think taking this chance to continue my schooling in Norway would assist me in this.
I would be focused on gender studies at the University of Oslo, a subject to which I am particularly passionate about and interested in. Being able to see the world, learn about another culture, and deepen my knowledge about the history of gender-related struggles and equality outside of the US would be life-changing for me.
Any support at all is hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and consideration! ❤️
