Help Deklan Fight Leukemia

On Monday, October 23rd we received devastating news, our sweet Deklan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This has come as a great shock to our family, as there were no real signs to prepare us for this diagnosis.

Those of you who know Deklan know what a kind soul he is. Deklan is a loving and affectionate 9 year old boy in the fourth grade who just decided this school year to transfer to his younger brother Dashiell’s school to be closer to him and his neighboring friends. Sadly, due to the long road of treatment that lies ahead, Deklan will now need to be homeschooled, as his immune system is severely compromised. Deklan will need to undergo aggressive chemotherapy, as well as blood transfusions to stabilize his hemoglobin levels for the next eight months. He has already begun multiple chemotherapy treatments, and is being so very brave. After two days at home, Deklan was readmitted to the hospital for further testing, as he was very dehydrated and experiencing severe stomach pain.
