Deke’s is expanding!
After years of searching for our next location, we are elated to call Briny Breezes our next home. Our lease begins May 1, 2026 and our goal is to be open July 4th weekend, dependent upon property improvements.
Our vision: Freshly roasted coffee served on drip and espresso, pastries and gelato, fresh squeezed orange juice — and ideally, sandwiches made from bread baked in house. In addition, a specialty grocer sourcing solely from local farms and purveyors for staples such as eggs, dairy, honey, granola and beyond.
Fuel up on a wholesome meal with impeccable, warm service on your way to the beach, supporting the local economy while you do so.
The space, which has been a salon for more than 30 years, is missing key aspects to make it viable for food production. This expanded concept will be equally challenging as it is transformative for our family and the community — and we plan to do it ourselves from the ground up!
Each dollar counts. Deke’s has been a bootstrapped business since the beginning. We plan to start by serving beverages and onboard food production as the funds become available, which we hope is at the starting line.
Many of you have seen Nico pour his heart and soul into his first shop in Delray, from constructing the bar itself to perfecting the roast recipes to self-taught technician work. He is joined by his wife Danica on this operation managing the grocer, bookkeeping and serving with a smile (most likely baby attached).
We currently have some equipment including an espresso machine and grinders, and we plan to shop smart and buy used where it makes sense.
We are asking for $85,000 and the funds will be used to cover the following:
- Build-out (Gutting the space, flooring, plumbing, electrical, bar construction, HVAC improvements): $35,000
- Equipment (Drip brewers, commercial oven and mixer, refrigerators and freezers, sinks, etc): $35,000
- Insurance, permitting and fees: $6,000
- Signage: $4,000
