Hi, my name is Deiry Ruiz. I’m a 22-year-old full-time student at Cal State Long Beach, working hard to support myself while pursuing my education. Recently, my car was totaled after another vehicle crashed into me, leaving me not only without transportation but also with serious injuries and a bunch of medical expenses. i was treated at the hospital for a concussion, a busted lip, and extensive bruising on my legs, arms, and chest—both externally and internally.

This accident has turned my life upside down. I already pay for rent, school, and utilities all on my own, and now, on top of recovering from my injuries i have medical expenses, left without a car to get to school, work, and medical appointments. With no savings to fall back on, I’m struggling to afford a replacement vehicle, which is essential for me to continue my education and daily responsibilities.
