My name is Deirdre. I am 50 years old, and I have always struggled with my weight. I realize this is most every woman's story, but hear me out.
I was fortunate enough to undergo Lapband surgery over 10 years ago. I got to my goal weight, and then it slipped. I had to have it removed. Since then, I have gained every pound back, plus some. I am the primary income for my family of five. I suffer from Hashimoto's disease, PCOS, severe back issues, gout, and a plethora of other ailments. My husband is unable to work due to mental health issues as well as severe physical issues. We have 2 adult children living with us, one who is battling his own mental health demons, and the other is working part-time and going to school full-time. Our daughter is an onslaught of mental health acronyms.
In an attempt to get my health on track, I recently had the Gastric Sleeve surgery, but what is my life without complications? I was chugging along doing what needed to be done to get discharged, only to have to go back to the ED because I couldn't keep fluids down. That has wonderfully been resolved, only to show a hematoma that may be developing into an abscess. I should find out more tomorrow and know the process moving forward.
I am in pain and stressing over finances due to not being able to go back to work when I thought I could.
I know I pretty much put myself in this situation, and rather than planning for the worst, I planned for the best.
If you are able to help get us back on track, my family and I would greatly appreciate it.
