Hi, this is Deidre, and I am sorry to have to make this, but I am in one of the hardest financial moments of my life.

Recently, my husband Scott and I have been hit with a series of situations that pushed us from struggling into crisis. Not long ago, Scott sliced open all the skin around his Achilles area, leaving him incapacitated and unable to work for a few weeks. He's back but work is slow We weathered that the best we could, but it caused us to fall behind on everything financially.

During Christmas time there is was much work available for him.

Just as we were trying to recover, I had a sudden medical emergency. A kidney stone caused an abscess, and when the surgeon went to drain it, I went into septic shock. I very nearly lost my life. I spent a day and a half in the ICU and four days total in the hospital.

Right now I am at home recovering, very sick, with a stent in my kidney and the kidney stone still there. I am scheduled for surgery on the 13th. In the meantime, neither of us can work. Scott was not able to qualify for short-term disability, and while I should be able to apply after the waiting period, it will not be much and it will come too late to keep us afloat.

We are now in a dire financial situation. I am asking for help to cover rent, basic bills, and medical expenses while we get through this. I truly hate having to ask, but many hands can make a burden light. I have helped others in similar situations, and now I am hoping for that same grace.
