Please Help Me Save My Home

Hi, I’m Deena—an expat single mom and small business owner living in Mexico. I’m reaching out because I’m facing an urgent legal and financial situation that is threatening my home.

Despite endeavoring repeatedly to resolve this issue directly, I’ve recently been backed into a corner—given a short window to come up with a significant payment in order to stop the matter from escalating further. I’ve been trying to handle this quietly and in good faith since last year, but now the stakes are too high to manage alone.

Some background... About 10 days ago, I received a knock at my door and notice of a lawsuit that had been launched by my Home Owners Association (HOA)—filed unexpectedly —despite my repeated efforts since last year to come to an agreement and resolve a billing dispute in good faith. I’ve made multiple written and in-person attempts to request determining the correct amount owed and set up a payment plan, but instead of working with me, they pursued legal action behind closed doors.

Now, I’m being required to pay the full amount (plus legal fees) within a timeframe. They say if I can’t meet their demand fast, I risk further legal action and losing the home I’ve worked so hard to build for my family. Time is not on my side. I’ve explored every option I can think of—and now, with a full heart and kicking my pride to the curb, I’m asking for help.

I’m seeking to raise $50,000 usd to settle this matter FAST and stop the legal process in its tracks before it escalates any further. I’ve looked into loans, but as a foreign woman in Mexico, I don’t qualify for local financing. That’s why I’m turning to community support.

To know me is to know I don’t take asking for help lightly. I’m used to doing it all myself—running two businesses, raising my children, and holding it all together. But sometimes life humbles us. And in this case, I have been repeatedly reminded of the need to ask for help. This is the hardest "ask" I’ve ever made—but I believe in being real, especially when life gets hard.
