This summer my amazing mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been going through chemo the last several months, and thankfully has been strong enough to work and maintain an income. Yesterday, the Drs gave us some unfortunate news. The treatments she's currently on have done nothing to shrink the tumor and it has in fact grown in size. They will have to do a mastectomy on Thursday, Oct 17th. Following that, we should expect an aggressive round of radiation and more chemo that she will have to go through for the next 3-4 months. After careful consideration, we have decided it's best she quits work temporarily in order to give her body the rest it needs to fight this cancer while undergoing treatment. She will be on short term disability, but hasn't been at her job long enough to receive FMLA. As a result, she will be paying for health insurance out of pocket and it's going to cost more per month than what she will receive from disability. It's not like my mom to ask for help, she's always worked very hard to take care of herself and her family. But due to the circumstances, help is needed. She has to have insurance to fight this battle so that she can continue to be there for her family. We love her so much and the thought of losing her is too much to bare. Please pray for her, and pray for us. We have faith in Gods plan. Thank you. ❤️
