Urgent Help: Battling Ovarian Cancer & Facing Homelessness
Hi, my name is DeeDee, and I'm reaching out during one of the most challenging periods of my life. I am currently battling Ovarian Cancer, undergoing intense chemotherapy, and have just been given five days to move out of my home with no financial resources to do so. This urgent housing crisis, combined with my ongoing cancer treatment, has pushed me to my absolute limit, and I desperately need your help.
My Cancer Journey: The Battle Within (and the Hope Ahead)
I was recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, and my treatment journey is extensive and demanding. I have already completed two cycles of chemotherapy, with the next two critical cycles scheduled for June 6th and June 27th. Following these, I am preparing for a hysterectomy planned for July. My fight doesn't end there; post-operatively, I will face another three cycles of chemotherapy, with the hopeful goal of completing my treatment in September.
Despite the intensity of this journey, I'm incredibly positive. My doctors have given me a 90% chance of recovery with my current treatment plan, which fills me with immense hope and determination. This positive outlook helps me face each day, but the rigorous treatment schedule has taken a significant toll on my body and my ability to work. The constant fatigue, nausea, and other side effects of chemotherapy have meant I can only work part-time, making it nearly impossible to keep up with everyday expenses, let alone save for emergencies.
The Unforeseen Crisis: Facing Homelessness in Days
Just as I am navigating this intense medical battle with optimism, an unforeseen and immediate housing crisis has erupted. I've been given only five days' notice to vacate my current home, leaving me with no time to plan and, critically, no money for a new place. I am facing the very real and terrifying possibility of homelessness while simultaneously undergoing life-saving cancer treatment.
How Your Support Will Make a Direct Impact
My immediate need is to secure safe housing so I can continue my cancer treatment without the added devastation of being unhoused. The financial burden of this sudden move, combined with my ongoing medical costs and reduced income, is overwhelming.
Your generous donations will provide a critical lifeline and directly cover:
Urgent Relocation Costs: This includes everything needed for a last-minute move: moving truck rental, packing supplies, and any immediate help to get my belongings safely moved within the next five days.
Securing Stable Housing: Funds will be used for the crucial upfront costs of a new apartment, specifically the first month's rent and security deposit, ensuring I have a safe and stable environment to recover in.
Essential Living & Medical Support: Your contribution will also provide for critical living expenses like food, utilities, and transportation to my vital chemotherapy appointments and medical care over the coming months. This stability is paramount as I navigate my extensive treatment plan through September.
Unforeseen Treatment-Related Needs: A portion of the funds will serve as a vital buffer for any medical expenses not fully covered by insurance, or other unforeseen needs that arise during my intensive chemotherapy and surgery.
My goal is to raise $15,000 to cover these immediate and essential needs, giving me the stability to focus entirely on my fight against cancer and my recovery.
My Vision for the Future & Employer Support
Securing stable housing is not just about having a roof over my head; it's about providing the necessary foundation for me to fight this cancer effectively. Without a safe place to rest and recover, my ability to endure chemotherapy and heal post-surgery will be severely compromised.
I am incredibly fortunate to have very supportive employers who have guaranteed my full-time job even though they'll need to hire someone to cover my work while I'm out. This means that once I'm through this immediate crisis and have completed my treatment, I have a secure full-time position to return to, offering much-needed stability and a clear path forward. Your support will allow me to focus my energy entirely on my health and recovery, rather than the overwhelming stress of homelessness. My ultimate goal is to complete my treatment in September, regain my strength, and return to my full-time work and rebuild my life with the security of my job, ready to embrace the 90% chance of full recovery.
Please Help Me Through This Critical Time
I know times are tough for everyone, but any amount you can contribute will make a monumental difference in my life right now. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing my story with your friends, family, and social networks. Every share brings me closer to reaching my goal and finding the stability I desperately need.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your compassion, and for any support you can offer during this incredibly challenging time. Your kindness will provide me with the hope and stability I need to fight and overcome this.
