On Saturday August 22nd, the vintage Airstream that I was fixing up to live in burned to the ground in the Hawk Fire near Reno, NV. I've been living out of my truck camper for the last year, and was making moves to have a little more living space for me and my pup. I spent $10,000 on the trailer, plus $1100 in taxes to register it in my name. I'd already spent around $2,000 on the renovation, and lost around $500 worth of tools that were inside of the trailer. Not to mention hundreds of hours spent working on it during nights and weekends. I just bought it in July, and hadn't insured it yet because it was just... sitting there. The storage facility doesn't offer any insurance on RVs either.
I never imagined something so catastrophic could happen. I had so many hopes and dreams for the future tied up in that little home on wheels. I don't want to give up on my dream. I already cashed out my entire 401k to try to make this happen, so I don't know what else to do other than to ask my community for help. I really wrestled with whether or not to do a fundraiser. Many others lost so much more than me in this fire. But so many of you offered support and asked if there was anything you could do to help. So if you can spare a couple bucks to help Emmy and I have some improved shelter, I would be endlessly grateful for your assistance.
Thanks in advance for contributing and/or sharing.
Humbly,
Dee
