Help dedicate a table at Gallup Park to Desmond
Donation protected
Desmond loved Gallup Park. Ever since he could walk we would go there to watch the geese and ducks. He learned to ride his bike there. He played on the structures. We went canoeing there. As a teen, he would walk there to connect with nature and do some reflection and soul searching; something he continued to do into adulthood. When he recently moved back home and Mya was home for Spring Break, they would go there to walk together. It was his familiar place that brought him peace.
When trying to decide what to do with some financial donations from his Celebration of Life, I thought about having a bench or something dedicated to him at Gallup Park where others might sit and find connectedness, as well. Our family found the perfect table, next to the butterfly garden with a great view. I want the plaque that will be secured to the table in his memory to remind people that they matter, they are worthy, and they are loved. It will also include the suicide prevention hotline of 9-8-8.
While inquiring about how to secure this table, I was informed that it is $5,000 for a ten year dedication but they don’t accept credit cards. So, I’m using $500 of the donations we already received to go toward this and am hoping some of you might be willing to help lessen the rest.
My goal with this memorial is to hopefully remind even just one person that they are here for a purpose and to reach out for help if they need it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please don’t feel obligated to contribute. Prayers and good vibes are also welcomed ✨
