Help Deckard Get the Care He Needs

Their Story:

My beloved 4 year old cat, Deckard, is facing a serious health challenge. He has been diagnosed with a major blood clot in his back left leg, which has left him unable to use it. After an emergency vet visit, I learned that he has a congenital heart condition that could significantly shorten his life if clots continue to form. The vet recommended a cardiologist for further evaluation.

While I initially managed to get Deckard some medication, it was clear that he needed more specialized care. I took him to the cardiologist, where he underwent extensive testing, including an echocardiogram and X-rays. Thankfully, the tests showed that the clots likely didn’t originate in his heart, but the cause of his leg issues remains uncertain. For now, we’re continuing his medication and working to prevent atrophy in his leg.

What Deckard Means to Me

I first met Deckard in 2020 when a coworker offered me one of her kitten’s from a litter. From the moment I saw his photo, I was drawn to him. When he came home with me, he was covered in fleas and had heartworms, but with care and love, he blossomed into a joyful, playful companion.

Deckard has filled my life with happiness. His playful spirit, loud meows of excitement when I come home, and affectionate nature have brought me so much joy. It breaks my heart to see him struggling now, unable to play or move like he used to. I miss our time together—his playful antics and comforting presence.

His condition is terminal, and while I cherish every moment we have together, I want to do everything I can to improve his quality of life during this time. The biggest challenge I face is the financial burden of his ongoing medical care.
