My name is Debra "Deb" Palmer and as many of you know, I have been struggling with AFib, CHF, HBP, and LBP for several years, but the last 9 months have been extremely difficult, to say the least.

I have been in and out of the hospital 9 times since January 2025.

The procedures of cardioversion were unsuccessful, and my resting heart rate was so low that the cardiologist team immediately sent me to KU Heart Institute. I have been admitted there multiple times and have had numerous procedures, including a Watchman, Pacemaker, and Cardiac MEMS, most recently in April of this year. All of these were to help with the cardiac issues that I am experiencing. I am also struggling with fluid retention around my heart, which makes my heart struggle to keep beating. The medication for my treatment is extremely costly even after insurance, and to be honest, there is just not enough money, and my SSI is my only income. The high-powered diuretics to keep the fluids from building up so rapidly are now causing issues with my kidneys, which is another medical issue that I am having to cope with.

I will be going back to KU Heart Institute tomorrow, 8.22.25, to meet with my team of cardiologists for more in-depth testing, medication modifications, and to determine our next step in handling my medical conditions and discuss possible surgery.

I am humbly asking for assistance to help cover expenses of travel and non-covered medications.

My family has been helping, but I need more than ever to have some help.
