Help Debra Crosby Recover from Covid Long Haul

Donation protected
Debra Crosby contracted Covid 19 in November of 2020. She needs your financial help to be able to afford Alternative Medicine, Alternative Healing Modalities, Services, Support, Prescribed, Organic Supplements and Organic Produce for the next 9 months.

Here is Debra's Covid Long Haul Story:

Because Debra Crosby knew that she had a vulnerable immune system she was extra cautious in terms of following CDC safety guidelines to the letter of the law in terms of protecting herself from contracting Covid 19. Even though she had always been careful, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving in November 2020 she received a phone call. She had been informed that she been in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid.

Debra had just finished rowing on her rowboat in the Salem Harbor in Salem, MA that day. She had just recorded another positive message to be uploaded to Facebook about why she calls her time on her rowboat “ROWING for PEACE.” Debra knew that many people were suffering in isolation and loneliness during the pandemic and that is why she recorded a series of short videos filmed with her cell phone from her rowboat to help others find their own path to peace. Especially, during the pandemic it seemed paramount to Debra to get the message of peace out to folks. She still had her wet suit on when she answered her cell phone.

By Thanksgiving Day, she had a full-blown case of Covid 19. Although her symptoms were pretty severe she was not hospitalized.

By Mid-January 2021, at about 6 weeks after being sick with Covid 19, she had hoped that she was well enough to go back to teaching. She had assessed her energy was at about 70%.  She intended to get back to life as normal and make a positive contribution to her student’s lives.

After only teaching one, 2-hour class via video conferencing she was debilitated for 24 hours after teaching.

Unbeknownst to her students, she could not function due to extreme fatigue. She also had heart palpitations, high blood pressure, spasmodic coughing, cramps in her chest, brain fog, cognitive difficulties, a very painful sore throat, terrible insomnia and constant physical pain that radiated from her lower back to the length of her legs.

Debra had none of these symptoms prior to getting Covid 19. Debra feels extremely tired all of the time and gets exhausted easily.  Sometimes it takes intense focus and will power just for Debra to move out of bed. This is not laziness and nor is it depression. When this happens she literally cannot move and she has felt trapped inside her own body.

Because she has a strong work ethic, a passion for teaching, a devotion to her students and a love for telling inspirational, stories or uplifting messages, she thought she could just push through, persevere and “pull herself up by her bootstraps” to summon the strength to work.

Within 2 weeks of trying to go back to work, even on a bare bones, minimal scale, Debra ended up in the emergency room twice.

On February 5th, 2021 after the 2nd visit to the Emergency Room Debra came to the humbling conclusion her body and brain were not ready for work. While hooked up to an EKG machine in the hospital in Beverly, MA due to horrible, painful cramps in her chest, she surrendered to the fact that she was now a Post Covid Long Hauler. This was not an easy thing to accept, but Debra had no choice. She has had to let go of the idea of working. Her body and brain cannot handle it.

As a self-employed educator, the last semester that she made income from teaching classes was in early October 2020. By mid-March 2021 it has already been over 5 months since she had made any income from teaching classes and at this point Debra has exhausted her financial resources. This hardship is beginning to have a negative impact on her health and her outlook on life.

To Debra’s credit she was able to survive all of those months without personally asking for any kind of assistance.

Through out this ordeal, Debra is deeply grateful for all of the love, prayers, encouragement and Acts of Kindness that her family and friends were inspired to offer of their own accord. She was in awe of how a small group of her students,  friends and family rallied to help Debra as much as they could since November, but she and everyone else thought she would have been well enough to go back to work again by March of 2021. That is the challenging aspect of dealing with Covid Long Haul, it takes time to fully recover. This is where your help comes in.

Debra is a proud woman and would much rather be in the position to help others than need to ask for help. In fact, over the decades she has dedicated her professional career to helping thousands to discover the confidence to succeed with performing, presenting, acting, storytelling, creative writing and public speaking.  Debra has helped many, many talented individuals launch their acting, performing, storytelling and public speaking careers.

For most of her adult life she has committed her free time to volunteering for many charities, not for profit organizations and religious communities. She also helped raise funds for those in need whenever she could, both locally and globally. Debra has literally helped others over the course of her lifetime and has always been happy to do so.

Some of the organisations she has been involved with, supported or initiated a fund raiser for are: The Wang Center's Arts Can Teach Program, the Anti-Defamation League, A.R.C., Citizens for Adequate Housing, Catholic Charities, The Boys & Girls Club, Girls Inc, The EADEC School of Senegal, West Africa, A3D, Inc, The Apollinaire Theater, the Mary Baker Eddy Library, the Salem Cultural Festival. Salem International Documentary Film Festival, S.C.O.R.E, the Plummer Home, H.A.W.C. and the Veribella Foundation just to name a few.

Debra has spent much of her life being of service to others and helping others. She has always done so with a cheerful heart.

Now Debra needs your help more than ever.

The problem is that because Debra’s immune system is incredibly vulnerable she needs the time, support and extra TLC to fully recover from Covid as a Long Hauler.  Debra also has had a history of having extremely negative or serious allergic reactions to many pharmaceuticals. Although, the Covid vaccine could soon be made available, her medical team and alternative doctor do not think that Debra’s body can handle the vaccine without detrimental effect at this time. There is concern that it could escalate all of her symptoms and might possibly put her life in danger.

What we are appealing to you for is a donation to assist Debra so she can afford alternative healing modalities, support, services, prescribed organic suppliments and organic produce. Debra cannot afford this without your help.

Debra has been doing everything in her power to get well, including having a very specific organic diet. She is also taking clean, pure and organic, prescribed vitamins, nutrients and supplements to help her body heal, as well. Debra has responded very well to alternative medicine in the past and this approach to healing should prove to be promising.

Interestingly enough, many Covid Long Haulers are actively seeking out alternative practitioners for help and many Long Haulers are responding well to these alternative healing modalities.

We are confident that with your help Debra will be able to receive the proper care, organic produce, prescribed organic supplements , alternative medicine, support and healing services so Debra will be able to get back to teaching, speaking and rowing on her rowboat again.

We see her with her bright smile, warm heart and enthusiastic spirit ROWING for PEACE again; inspiring others to discover PEACE within.

We invite you to be as generous as you able to be. Please help Debra get better. Show your love, so Debra can get back to sharing her love through teaching, speaking and ROWING for PEACE.

In closing, Debra has an amazing way of making people feel like they are seen, heard, valued, appreciated, respected and have a sense of belonging in her tribe, but more importantly being part of this one tribe called humanity. She is always celebrating how important Acts of Kindness are. If you are part of Debra's larger social circle, professional connections and/or you are part of her tribe we hope you will feel inspired to help Debra get well and fully recover as a Covid Long Hauler.

Your Kindness and Support are greatly appreciated.

As Debra  says: “From my Heart to Your Heart: Blessings of PEACE.”

She also frequently reminds us: “KINDNESS MATTERS!”
