Hello, my name is Deborah Aaron, and I am a second-year Public Health major at Guilford College, originally from Zimbabwe. Over the past two years, I have dedicated myself to my studies and adjusting to life in the U.S., but it has not been without its challenges. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, I was unable to return home last year, and now it has been nearly two years since I last saw my family.
Being so far from home has been incredibly difficult, especially during my first year, which was particularly rough. I have experienced intense homesickness and a longing to reconnect with my loved ones. My family means everything to me, and being away from them for such a long time has taken a toll on my emotional and mental well-being.
I am seeking your support to help me raise funds for a roundtrip ticket to Zimbabwe next summer (summer of 2025). The hope is to depart around mid-May (2025) when the school year ends. Unfortunately, my college does not provide financial assistance for international students' travel expenses, and I am unable to afford the trip on my own. Your contribution, no matter how small, will help me reunite with my family and find the comfort and strength I need to continue my studies in Public Health with a renewed sense of purpose.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness and generosity will make an immense difference in my life, and I am deeply grateful for any support you can provide.
