Help Deborah Dahl Fight to Bring Her Dogs Home & Defend Her Name
My name is Deborah Dahl. I have been a dog breeder for 52 years, primarily raising English Bulldogs. My animals have been my life, my livelihood, and my heart.
On June 24, 2025, I was arrested and charged with 93 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. On July 1, I was arrested again, and additional animals were taken from my property. Shortly after, more charges were filed, including felony charges.
My county brought in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to assist in seizing my dogs. In total, dozens of my dogs were removed from my property and transported out of state.
I had previously had Animal Control called to my property several times over the years, and on those visits, no wrongdoing was found. I have always maintained that my animals were fed daily, had water available, and received care consistent with my decades of breeding experience.
During the seizure and transport process, 16 of my dogs passed away. Some were elderly. Some were young. Three of my females were pregnant at the time. Puppies were born while in custody, and I have not been fully accounted for regarding all of them.
On August 1, 2025, a judge dismissed the original charges and ordered that my property be returned by August 6. That deadline was not met. Some of my dogs were returned days later. Others were not.
Shortly thereafter, I was charged again — this time with additional felony and misdemeanor charges. At the same time, the ASPCA filed a civil lawsuit seeking to retain possession of my remaining dogs and pursue further action.
My upcoming court dates are:
March 16 – Civil Case
April 6 – Criminal Case
I am now fighting on two legal fronts.
This has devastated me emotionally, mentally, and financially. My reputation has been publicly damaged. My address has been shared online. I have received threats. I have lost my ability to work and earn income, as I whelped puppies for clients and relied on my breeding program for my livelihood.
I currently have an attorney representing me in the criminal matter. He is a former Judge and Assistant District Attorney and has been working diligently on my behalf. However, I also need representation for the civil case, which is a separate legal battle.
Legal defense at this level is extremely expensive. Between court filings, expert witnesses, travel, and attorney fees, the costs are overwhelming.
I am asking for help to:
Retain civil legal counsel
Continue my criminal defense
Cover court costs and filing fees
Pursue appropriate legal action for the loss of my animals
Rebuild my livelihood
I am not asking anyone to take sides. I am asking for the opportunity to defend myself properly in court.
If you know me, you know my animals have always been my life. For 52 years, I have dedicated myself to breeding and caring for dogs. I never imagined I would be fighting to defend my name and my life's work.
If you are able to donate, share, or pray, I would be deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with me during the most difficult time of my life.
