Help Debi Help Danny
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sandy Sheehan, and I'm fundraising to help my sister, Debi, so that she can help our brother-in-law, Danny.
I’d like you to meet Danny Carson, my brother-in-law who is married to my sister, Toni. I’d also want you to meet Debi Jarrett; she is mine and Toni’s sister.
Danny must have a kidney transplant to live; amazingly, Debi is a compatible kidney donor for Danny!!! However, Debi is currently medically uninsured and must have several medical exams done at her expense before continuing with the next round of testing required by the Living Kidney Donor program, which is why we need your help. Please read on to learn more about their stories.
Danny has a type of kidney disease called Glomerulonephritis. This disease damages the tiny filters inside the kidneys (the glomeruli), causing them to slowly lose their ability to remove wastes and excess fluid from the blood to make urine. His disease has drastically progressed to the point that his physician encouraged him to pursue a living kidney donor transplant. He can receive a transplant much faster with a live donor transplant, outrun the need for dialysis, and benefit from a longer-lasting transplant.
As you can imagine, Danny wants to live a fulfilling and healthy life with Toni and his two beautiful daughters. He dreams of the day when he can walk both of them down the aisle when they marry, watch them raise their families and bounce a grandkid or two on his knee!
Danny and Toni, along with our extended families, spread the word about his need for a kidney donor and asked others to share his story hoping people would consider a kidney donation through the National Kidney Registry. The fantastic thing about this program is that a direct match isn’t necessary because the donor’s kidney can help another person in need but who has an incompatible donor. In turn, Danny would receive a compatible kidney from another donor donating on behalf of an incompatible recipient. It’s a win-win for all!
When Debi first learned that Danny needed a kidney transplant, she knew without hesitation that she would donate hers if she could, if not to Danny, then to another compatible recipient. She’s selfless like that, which is why she’s so endearing to all who know her. She prayed the Lord’s word often, as said in 1 John 3:17-18; "If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him? Little children let us love not in work and speech, but in action and truth".
And our Lord heard her prayer, and he does not disappoint! Debi started the Donor Screening Process through the National Kidney Registry (NKR) to become a Living Kidney Donor in late September and completed the 1st round of testing on October 10th. She was notified a week later that she was a compatible match for DANNY! Praise the Lord!
Before Debi can move on to the 2nd Round of testing, she must present a clear Pap, Mammography, and Colonoscopy exam result. And due to being medically uninsured and a single-wage earner, she’s unable to bear the expense of these exams on her own. This is why your donation can help. Our entire family would be very grateful for your contribution to help Debi pay for these three tests so she can continue with the subsequent extensive testing required to get the green light for the transplant.
We are all praying that she will pass all required tests to help save our beloved brother-in-law’s life. And we pray that you find it in your heart to donate. And if donating to Debi’s cause is not plausible for you, spreading awareness of this page would be a blessing to us and very much appreciated.
Please take a moment to learn more about Danny, his condition, and the National Kidney Registry by visiting his page on NKR.org: Daniel Carson Needs a Kidney We’d be so grateful to have you share his page too! Raising awareness of the Living Kidney Donor program can help increase the number of people who may consider kidney donation, thus helping many more people like Danny who need a kidney to live.
