On Tuesday August 13th, Debbie collapsed at work and an ambulance had to be called. Debbie works at the Wellsburg Diner where she is absolutely adored and loved by all. Thankfully, two lifeguards happened to be eating breakfast and immediately jumped up and started cpr until the ambulance came. When she left, she wasn’t breathing.
After medical tests, we discovered that Debbie collapsed because of a stroke. Doctors don’t know how long she wasn’t breathing for, but the lack of oxygen to her brain for that time period is causing other issues.
Debbie is currently in the icu. She is on the ventilator. She has been off sedation since 1 am on Saturday, and has not responded at all. She opens her eyes, but cannot follow any commands. She cannot squeeze a hand. Since she has not responded at all and nothing has changed in days, the doctors believe she may have a brain injury.
on Monday, they’re doing a repeat MRI to see if anything has changed and to further assess the damages. This will be the test that determines the prognosis.
Her daughter, Taylor, spoke with the medical team and they all agreed that this is not good. The nurse had tears in her eyes when they discussed possible outcomes.
Please pray for a miracle. All Debbie could talk about was how excited she was to meet her unborn grandson in November. Her family is heartbroken that this probably will not happen.
Please help support Debbie’s medical bills, transportation for family to get to the hospital and back (family is in Florida and Pittsburgh), and aftercare.
Thank you,
Taylor (and Derrik), Nick, and baby Asher.
