Help Debbie Yulo Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
In February 2021, my mom, Debbie Yulo, was diagnosed with an invasive ductal carcinoma, aka the words no child or husband ever wants to hear, breast cancer in her left breast.
Due to the covid pandemic my mother had missed her routinely scheduled mammogram and went 4 months late. Her doctor said that had she went on time, this would have gone undetected for at least another year and who knows where we would be. We are not taking that stroke of luck for granted at all and are extremely grateful that the size of the tumor is currently the size of a long grain of rice but it is still growing and her surgery can't come soon enough.
Like many other high-risk adults during the pandemic, both my mother and my father have been out of work for most of 2020 and still remain unemployed. Both unemployment and social security checks are just not enough to cover everything that fighting cancer entails. On top of that, we just discovered this week that my mother's medical insurance had been discontinued for some unknown reason and we are fighting to get it back as we speak. Even if we are able to restore her insurance, her deductible is so high that my parents will be covering a large portion for her procedure and her recovery out of pocket.
She is scheduled for a sentinel lymph node biopsy with a lumpectomy on March 5th. Four weeks after her surgery, she will begin daily radiation treatments that will last for 4-7 weeks. After that she will begin taking hormone blocking pills.
On top of dealing with the stress of having cancer, my parents are both losing sleep over how they are going to be able to handle the financial ramifications of fighting this. I'd love if I could ease their financial burden at all so that they can focus on what truly matters, my mother's treatment and recovery but I need your help!
My parents are extremely hard working people who do not ask for handouts but just this once, I am asking for them.
Any amount helps, large or small. Even if you can't help financially, sharing this campaign is just as important!
I appreciate you and I know that my family appreciates you!
