Hi everyone,
My name is Heather, and I’m writing this on behalf of my dear friends Haley and Jackie, for their incredible mom, Debbie Petro. If you know Haley or Jackie you know, like I do, how humble they are and that they
would never ask for help themselves, which is why I’ve
stepped in, to do it for them.
I met Jackie years ago through my grandmother, GG, who was one of Debbie’s longtime hair clients and quickly became like family. Debbie has always had that effect on people, the kind of person whose warmth, kindness, and generosity made everyone she met feel like home.
Sadly, Debbie was diagnosed with vascular dementia, which has rapidly progressed over the past year. Earlier this October, she suffered a TIA (mini stroke), leading to hospitalization and a stay in short-term rehabilitation. Debbie needs to transition to a memory care home where she can receive the 24/7 care she needs and truly deserves ASAP.
Debbie was born and raised in Framingham, MA, where she built her life, raised her children, ran her small business, and poured her heart into HER community. She was so proud to hang a sign up to support a friend who was running for office, the first to organize fundraisers for a good cause, open her home, and lend a hand to anyone in need…. never expecting anything in return.
Now it’s her turn to receive that same love and support she’s given to so many.
As a lifelong small business owner, Debbie never had the luxury of retirement savings or long-term care coverage. To fund her care, the girls are navigating every option possible to try to not have to make heartbreaking decision to sell the beloved Pitt Road home(All signs are pointing in that direction at this time), a home that has been a safe haven and gathering place for countless friends and family over the years.
Right now, Haley (who has been her mom’s full-time caregiver and currently resides at Pitt road with her daughter, Grace) and Jackie are doing everything possible to keep Debbie safe, cared for, and comfortable. But the cost of quality memory care is overwhelming, and immediate support is needed to bridge this gap.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward Debbie’s medical care, memory care facility costs, and transition expenses.
If you know Debbie, or even if you’ve simply been touched by the love of someone like her, please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Let’s come together for a woman who spent her life coming together for everyone else.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give Debbie the dignity, care, and peace she deserves in this next chapter.
With love and gratitude,
Heather (on behalf of Haley and Jackie, and Debbie’s amazing family)
