- Hi, my name is Sharon, and I'm fundraising for my close friend Debbie Curtin whom, after months of feeling extremely sick, was finally diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma in December 2021 (https://www.cancercenter.com/cancer-types/non-hodgkin-lymphoma/types/t-cell-lymphoma).
- So far, Debbie has had 7 chemotherapy treatments. Her latest CAT scan on 7/19/22 has not brought promising results. A PET scan will be done on 7/27/22 to determine whether the cancer is in remission.
- Debbie's treatment started close to home on Long Island, but her care has now been transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City.
- Once in remission, Debbie’s next step is to have an autologous stem cell transplant (www.mskcc.org/pe/autologous_guide) to enable a 50/50 chance the cancer won’t return, without the transplant it’s a 70-80% chance of the cancer returning.
- Debbie will need a 24/7 caregiver the first month after the transplant (which is not covered by their insurance), and will have travel expenses back and forth to NYC from Long Island for the next year of treatment.
- It has become financially stressful, and this financial burden will continue over the next year
- Doing this on behalf of my friend, any small amount of help would be greatly appreciated, and sharing to your page would be great.
- I will keep you updated on her progress
Thanks bunches!
