Help Debbie McDermott Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
This campaign is for my grandmother, Debbie McDermott, who lost her family home of 70 years to the Altadena fire. She lost everything in the fire; nothing was able to be salvaged. While we are all glad she's safe and alive, generations of art, furniture, and family heirlooms are all completely gone. The money raised will be used for her insurance deductible, so that she may start rebuilding a life for herself.
My grandmother, a woman of resilience and grace, now faces the unimaginable challenge of starting over. At her age, she shouldn't have to face the uncertainty of where she will live, let alone the stress of rebuilding everything from scratch. What she needs now is the support of a caring community to help restore some sense of security, peace, and hope for her future. In the meantime, she is able to stay with family. She is retired after several decades of working for Child Protective Services in Los Angeles. She is disabled and cannot work.
As of right now, we are only asking for the amount her insurance company is requiring to cover her deductible. If she can cover this, her policy will allow her to begin the necessary steps to build her house again from the ground up. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in easing the burden on her and ensuring that she can begin to heal from this unimaginable loss.
