Miss Hewett, as she's known on campus, was a passenger in an automobile accident last month. She sustained traumatic brain and spinal injuries when the roof of the truck collapsed on her head. Her neck was broken and had to be reconstructed so she will be in a halo for 8-12 weeks. She also had a mini stroke and has nerve trauma to her left eye. On top of all this, Debbie lost her mother in the accident. Debbie and Mama Hewett were extremely close so the emotional trauma is hitting her hard. Miss Hewett has already spent time in the hospital with 24-hour rehabilitation, and her continued recovery will take months, so she needs our help!
Miss Hewett was raised in Norco, CA and holds a dear place in all of our hearts. She is a well-loved teacher at Norco Intermediate and students have thrived in her remote teaching classes this year just as they did in her live “performances.” She is animated, positive, and full of life in each science and support course she teaches! She’s created a beautiful garden on campus, handles all the recycling and “green” sustainability, and has always made each day just a little sillier and better with her presence! She gives EVERYTHING she has to her students and they love her for it!
Please donate so Debbie can heal without having to worry about massive medical bills and managing daily tasks that she simply can’t do on her own. This is what our community does best…supports their folks when its needed! THANK YOU!
