Please help Debbie’s desperate fight against Crohn’s disease
Hi my name is Susan Rapoport and my friend Deborah Weingers (44) has been battling with Crohn’s disease for the last 20 years. Over the past few months her health has deteriorated tremendously. She is no longer able to eat regular food. Every time she eats, she experiences horrible intestinal pain and bowel distress. Her body does not absorb basic nutrients, she is rapidly losing weight, and grows weaker and weaker each day. She has been in and out of the hospital and twice in the last two weeks. Her friends and family are terrified at the sudden decline of this vivacious, kind-hearted, and loving person.
Debbie is a divorced woman who must support herself and her 15-year-old daughter and helps her 20 year old daughter. Before the pandemic, Debbie managed a Karate school that, like many other businesses in the Covid-19 pandemic, suffered great financial losses and went out of business. Debbie’s salary was reduced substantially. Now, she is unable to work, and her situation has become quite desperate. She is still paying off medical bills from a surgery for Crohn’s several years ago in which doctors removed a piece of her intestine. And her frequent visits to medical specialists have been very costly. Her recovery process has been long and painful.
During this summer, Debbie has been in and out of the hospitals already 3 times. Doctor's are telling her that the only viable solution is to have a removal of the entire colon which will have her attach to a plastic pouch for the rest of her life.
If you have suffered or are still suffering from this terrible disease, you can understand that working and earning a living is very hard when a patient is having to go into the hospital all the time or when the pain is so intense that the only thing you can do is take medication and stay in bed.
PLEASE help my friend Debbie get the right treatment, get her illness under control, and have a more normal life to provide for her and her daughter.
Iif you already donated, thank you so much, but PLEASE continue helping Debbie by sharing the link of this gofundme.
Thank you
Susan Rapoport
