Around 6:00 am Saturday, March 22nd, a massive 4-alarm-fire broke out at Oak Apartments in Kimberling City, completely destroying one of the buildings in the complex and leaving many families displaced.
One of those displaced was my mom, Debora Arnett. She has lost everything, after starting over and relocating from another emergency situation only 5 years prior. Her pet cat, Gigi, is unaccounted for; but we are keeping faith he escaped outdoors sometime during the panic. After the incident, Deb was admitted to the hospital for smoke inhalation and it was discovered she also suffered a cardiac event from takotsubo cardiomyopathy, or “Broken-heart Syndrome”. She is still in the hospital as of March 23rd, but after she's released she will be staying with a life-long friend for the time being.
My mom has been through hell... when I tell you this woman has lost everything and had to start over so many times. Yet she still has so much love in her heart. She lives on limited disability income after 2 failed spinal surgeries. Of course, many things cannot be replaced... But hopefully some comfort can be provided by covering basic necessities like toiletries and clothing for the time being; and eventually household needs for when she is able to get into a new residence.
Absolutely anything helps, if you are unable to make a financial contribution, sharing goes a long way. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for your help in any way shape or form!
