Dear friends and kind-hearted supporters,
My name is Debi Howard, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. Just a month ago, while helping my cousin care for her mother-in-law, I suddenly experienced excruciating pain in my back and ended up in the ER. I thought it might be something related to my spine — but instead, I received life-changing news: I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to my spine.
Since that day, my life has changed in ways I never could have anticipated. I’ve had to step away from work and rely on FMLA and short-term disability, which only covers 60% of my income. I’m incredibly grateful for the unwavering love and support of my close friends and family, who have helped with food and other essential needs. But despite their help, the financial burden has become overwhelming.
My car — my only means of getting to critical medical appointments — now urgently needs repairs. At the same time, I’m struggling to manage mounting medical expenses while focusing on my treatment.
I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help, but I have two beautiful grandbabies on the way this year, and I’m holding on to the hope of being there to meet them. More than anything, I want to fight this battle with everything I’ve got and return to the life I love.
Your support — whether through a donation or simply sharing this message — would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. I’m determined to beat this, but I can’t do it alone.
With gratitude,
Debi
