Dear Friends:
I hesitate to come forward in this time of need, but right now, I don’t have other options.
My partner Kara and I could be facing eviction from our home in the coming months. We fell behind in the payments on our apartment after being blindsided by a series of unexpected bills -- medical costs for myself and for Kara, and the considerable funeral and end-of-life expenses incurred when my beloved mom passed away in earlier this year. Those issues were compounded by my losing a large chunk of income during the pandemic.
We took another hit this spring when my mom’s home, which I’ve been trying to empty, was severely damaged by a flood caused by a broken pipe, a disaster that has only partially been covered by insurance and is still not fully resolved. I'm very grateful to everyone who contributed to my earlier campaign to keep that home out of foreclosure for my late mom, as was she.
All those setbacks added up to thousands of dollars, and as a result, I’m setting up this fundraiser to help us stay in our home. The goal amount doesn’t cover the entire amount due, but when combined with my recent sales of personal possessions (mostly family heirlooms and the bulk of my music collection), it would help a great deal.
I hate to have to create this fundraising effort at a time when most of us are struggling, but given our precarious state with housing forbearance ending, I don't know where else to turn.
So, if you can donate or share this with your friends, I would be very appreciative. Thank you so much for your consideration.
With love and appreciation,
Deb and Kara
