Yes, Leo has been on this merry-go-round circling the globe since August 22, 2024. That's accurate, it's been 537 days or 19 months on this part of the journey. Hence, only 21,749 days ago since his first two strokes deeply and largely scarred up the inside of his brain. Who would have thought at this point in his life we'd be at this juncture?
Leo has been going back and forth with me to the Cleveland Clinic. He was admitted a few weeks ago for a total of 13 in-depth examinations with some new neurosurgeons due to new light on the journey and a few complications. His growing Care Team has been weighing the options to prioritize how to address the two different yet very serious neurodegenerative diseases first plus an underlying third one evading the experts. Our hope is that they're mapping out the best course of action to mitigate the diseases systematically so the worst one(s) can be targeted, eradicated, and/or fixed.
We’re facing a collection of symptoms in Leo’s CNS and reaching down into the brain stem, and PNS. They're extending from the front of Leo’s brain, superior temporal gyrus, and cerebellum to his brain stem dramatically affecting his balance and cognitive functions. Standing and walking have started to be affected with 86 falls to date.
Based on diagnostic testing thorough exams, and 8 MRI’s; multiple new specialists will be doing more invasive procedures that his Duke Health, MUSC, and Cleveland Clinic Care Team collectively advised Leo on since 2022. In the passed few weeks, we've happily received the results from the biopsy of Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Unexpectedly some type of cerebellum damage and disease inducing the frequency with 10-level pain of his migraines, seizures and strokes.
You can imagine after this period of an unplanned assembly of multinational providers with elite levels of expertise; this will be the toughest new year for Leo as we witness this unfolding. Please keep him in your heart and prayers.
Any assistance would be beyond appreciated in addition to sharing this GofundMe campaign with your social networks, please. Note: the donations ASK” has increased exponentially because Leo and his family are struggling with the medical/travel/plus other costs, extensive Care Teams at/to all the hospitals. Who knows the future for Leo and his small family.
Not sure who to approach to raise more help? (From GoFundMe Ideas) + People you know of with a large network. Think about your active social media users, etc. + People with a helpful fundraising skill. Think of good writers, photographers, etc. + People close to you or Leo's reason for fundraising. + People you’ve helped in the past, people who have helped you. + Your church, school/recreational teams, and scouting groups. He carried this passion into his work and as a Rotary International volunteer/leader on committees supporting local causes such as women's groups and Christians in Transition in St. Louis plus NC/SC/MO/IL/TN/KY.
(Leo coached soccer and baseball; boys and girls youth teams for about 20 years plus was involved in Scouting as a youth and leader for over 30 years, and served as a higher education community leader as a founding father for a National social fraternity, active member of IFC, Panhellenic sorority influencer, volunteer/alumni judicial board member. Your kindness and generosity would be a Godsend. We sincerely appreciate all of your support.
