"Deanna has Covid." These words are still so hard to believe. Deanna did everything right. She tested negative twice and she reluctantly stayed away from her family after they tested positive for Covid. Yet two weeks later, Deanna became sick. On Easter Sunday, she had to go to the hospital due to low oxygen saturation levels. She was immediately admitted to the ICU with severe Covid pneumonia where she is now struggling daily while trying to stay off the ventilator.
Deanna’s friends know how strong, fun and vibrant she is! Deanna is an amazing mother and friend as well as an incredibly talented designer who is so hardworking, caring, and kind! She is fiercely dedicated to her kids, Allison and Ryan. Like her own mother Norma, Deanna would move boulders to help her children (she learned from the best)! As a former TCU college swimmer, Deanna is so athletic and active still swimming all these years later. In spite of all this, she has become a victim of Covid-19 and is now battling this deadly virus at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands.
Deanna's doctors and nurses are doing an amazing job using the latest techniques and medicines to help her. She is on Remdesivir, blood thinners, oxygen and other therapies to help her breathing and oxygen saturation to improve. On the second day in the ICU, doctors suggested her falling oxygen levels indicated she might require intubation. Although her situation is dire, Deanna has managed to use other means of oxygen assistance and is still not requiring a ventilator for now. Praise God for this! Deanna has a long way to go, but she has made some progress in the right direction these first few days in the ICU.
As Deanna's best friend, I wanted to start this fundraiser for her to try and lift the burden of upcoming expenses and medical bills that will surely follow her stay in the hospital. Deanna is successfully self-employed as a very talented designer who travels for her job. However, if you are self-employed, you understand there is no regular salary that keeps coming in if you are sick and unable to work. If you can, please contribute to help alleviate the financial burden from Deanna being in the ICU/hospital. We don't want Deanna or her family to worry about financial matters and upcoming medical bills when all energy and focus needs to go toward helping Deanna battle and recover from Covid.
Deanna is one of the most caring and generous people I know. She is a Christian who gives to many charities and people in need whether she is asked to or not. She often does this very quietly as the Bible instructs us to do according to Matthew 6:4. Now is our opportunity to help our amazing friend as she is in the battle of her life. Should you have any questions, or if you would like to donate directly, you can contact me privately.
More than anything, PLEASE KEEP PRAYING for Deanna!
With the family's permission, I will continue to post updates on Deanna's condition. Thank you friends and family for your prayers!!
