We’re a Working Couple—Now Facing 25 Days Homeless With Our Pets

Hi. We’re a married couple living in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and as of August 1st, we’ve been forced out of our home.

We both work. We’ve signed a lease on a new place—but it doesn’t open for 25 more days. In the meantime, we have nowhere to go, no car, and six living souls to care for: two trained service dogs and four cats that are part of our family.

We’ve tried everything:

• Calling shelters (none allow pets)

• Searching for affordable motels or Airbnbs (prices are overwhelming or don’t allow animals)

• Reaching out to friends and pet fosters (most can’t help or are at capacity)

We’re not asking for a miracle. Just enough help to keep us and our animals safe and together until our new place is ready.

• Pet-friendly lodging (Airbnb, extended-stay motel, or room rental)

• Food and essentials for 25 days

• Transportation (we’re on foot or using rideshares—no car)

• Emergency pet boarding if it comes to that

We’re doing everything we can, but this gap could undo us if we don’t get support.
