On March 23 2021 our life’s was turned upside down. It started with going to the clinic for a regular check up. I as a mother had a concern about Deangelo having frequent nose bleeds and bruising. Dr Zauche who is his pediatrician said “ let’s check his blood count to make sure there isn’t anything going on.” So we went down stairs to get blood drawn. I took him home cause I had to go back to work. That’s when I received a call from Dr Zauches nurse to come back to the office to talk about his blood counts. I went back that’s when we found out his red and white blood cells and platelets where dangerously low. Dr Zauche said “ You need to go home and get Deangelo and rush him to Wesley medical center in Wichita KS. That’s where they did more testing and we found out that he had aplasti anemia. Aplasti anemia is where his bone marrow don’t produce enough red and white blood cells or platelets. Dr informed us he will need a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. We are currently living in Garden city KS. We will be traveling to Wichita Ks twice a week for blood transfusion and platelet transfusion until we find a match for his bone marrow transplant. Once we find a match we will travel to Kansas City where he will be there for 3-6 months or until he is stable. We also have 4 other children to take care of through this. Any help will be truly appreciated.
