Help Dean & Susan Find Home Again

Hi, my name is Dean, and I’m writing this on behalf of my wife and myself, during one of the most challenging transitions we’ve ever faced.

I never imagined I’d be writing this.

Life can change in an instant. And sometimes, no matter how hard you try to stay strong, the weight of the storm becomes too heavy to carry alone.

For the past three years, my wife Susan and I have quietly built a life together in Rochester. She came all the way from India with nothing but her faith, and I left behind my hometown of Staten Island to be with her. We’ve faced challenges, but we believed we were right where God wanted us.

This February, I started a new job a fresh beginning. But on my very first day, my car broke down on the highway. It was discouraging, but by God’s grace, we pushed through. Just a few weeks later, I was bit by a dog at work, forcing me to take time off and lose income while I healed. It felt like spiritual warfare one thing after another. But still, we trusted.

Just as I recovered and returned to work, we were hit again this time, with an unexpected 60-day eviction notice.

Not because of anything we did wrong. We’ve been respectful, responsible tenants. But we live in a missionary apartment, and the lease allows management to end our lease if a staff member needs housing. That’s exactly what happened.

Suddenly, we have until June 8th to leave with no backup plan, no cushion, and very little time.

Initially, we considered relocating to Staten Island to be closer to family, but with the high cost of living and time constraints, that’s no longer realistic. So we’re now searching for a place here in Rochester urgently. Rent, deposits, temporary stays, moving costs all of it adds up. And with limited time and resources, we’re doing everything we can on our end. But we also know when it’s time to reach out for help.

• Secure a new apartment (first month’s rent + deposit)

• Cover basic moving expenses

• Stay afloat while continuing job hunting and rebuilding
