Dean’s Journey

Donation protected

I want to start off by sharing who my dad, Dean Kinney, is as a person. He is hands down one of the hardest working men I have ever met. He would work 40+ hours a week working a sales route and come home to work on cars for anyone who needed it. No matter how tired he would be, he always was a helping hand. Not only does he have a lot of love for his family, but his love for God is even stronger. He has been such a testimony of faith and has touched so many lives.

Now to explain why I am posting this. Back in November, Dean went to the hospital to undergo a procedure called the Whipple Procedure as he was having issues with his pancreas. The procedure ended up not being successful as there was some complications. About a week after the procedure, he was rushed in for a emergency procedure as he was internally bleeding. The surgeon was able to thankfully stop the bleeding. Dean continued to have complications which led to his stomach no longer working. The doctors were not able to pinpoint what was going on but made us aware that there was a tumor on his pancreas. The tumor was not showing any signs of cancer.

Fast forward to January and Dean was still not able to eat. The doctors made us aware that his stomach was not working and they weren’t able to do anything to start it. Following that, we received devastating news that he did in fact have cancer in his pancreas and it had spread to his liver. Dean was sent home with a feeding tube and placed on Palative care. The cancer iscontinuing to spread throughout his body. Dean is undergoing another procedure as his feeding tube has stopped working and they are hoping to be able to place it successfully. This news has been a lot to process for our family and we are spending as much time with him as we can.

My parents are not ones to ask for help but I know that there will be a financial burden they will be facing as he has been off work since November and losing short term disability. I would love for my mom to not have to worry about these financial burdens as she focuses on taking care of my dad. We are not sure how much time he will have left with us. Thank you for taking the time to read and please don’t feel obligated to donate. We are so grateful for those who have already been sending us thoughtful cards and food and prayers ❤️
