Help Dean Colby with medical expenses
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Brittany Matherly. I am the daughter of Dean Colby. As many of you are aware, Dean has been in and out of the hospital recently fighting an infection that is a hard one to treat.
A little bit of history about Dean...Dean is the loving husband to Kenda of 37 years. Dean has two children: Brandon and Brittany. Dean has four grandchildren: Austin, Emma, Jaylen and Colbie. Dean enjoys spending time with his family.
Dean is a type 2 diabetic. His health has been a struggle over the years and continues to be a challenge, but, Dean is not giving up. I wish I could give you all his health history, but it so much, I can't keep track anymore. Due to an infection in 2015, Dean had to have his leg amputated. Here we are in 2021, and a different strain of infection is back and giving Dean a run for his money. After many hospital stays and antibiotics being resistant to the infection, nothing seemed to be working. Dean is non-weight bearing due to a wound on the non-amputated leg which means Dean will be bed ridden for months. Cultures were sent to outside sources to help determine if there were any antibiotics that were not resistant to the infection. On 10/05/2021, Dean was informed by his infectious disease doctor there was ONE antibiotic found that is not resistant to the infection. This was great news!...But, with being bed ridden for months, the in home IV antibiotic, even with the help of insurance, the out of pocket cost is extremely high. At minimum, Dean has to be on this antibiotic for 5 weeks. The cost quoted originally was $1,100/week. Come to find out, the cost per week is $1,200. Dean came home on 10/08/2021 and will continue to fight like he always has!
I am asking for some financial contributions for Dean. Any little bit helps. If you are unable to contribute financially, I would appreciate a share of his GoFundMe page. Keep the prayers coming!
