My name is Victoria, I'm a tenant organizer in DC. A local DC Tenant Leader that I work with is having a hard time paying her power bill. She has been without power for months. She is an elder who has given a lot to the tenants rights struggle in DC. She has been a committed advocate and leader for decades in this city. She is constantly connecting our current tenant struggle to the history of movements for racial justice in this country and it is truly a blessing to have her in my life.
This past year she suffered from serious medical issues which have caused increasing hardships. She's a senior and has not been able to stay at home during the pandemic because of the lack of power. As the summer gets hotter it's really important that she gets her power back on so she can have AC and a refrigerator!
She would like to remain anonymous but is really grateful for your support!
Pepco will not reinstate her power, or let her open a new account because she has a large debt from before COVID.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
