Help Daylin Smile: Support His Marine Dream

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shannon. I am trying to raise money for my 19 year old son to be able to receive crucial dental care before he is able to enlist in the Marines next year. A little bit about my son that you should know is that he has overcame academic struggles in school due to ADHD. He was diagnosed at 5 years old. But he has made tremendous growth to now, his senior year, which he graduates in May. I want to make his dream come true to be able to join the Marines, and to be able to protect our beloved county. He has been in ROTC since freshman year and is now awaiting a promotion in ranking but currently is a 2nd lieutenant. He is a great son, brother and boyfriend to his girlfriend. He currently works at a fast food chain but has unfortunately been given slim to nothing hours. Even after recently receiving his drivers license that he persevered to pass his driving test. The issue at hand is that unfortunately Daylin did not understand the importance of dental hygiene growing up. Which after he went to MEPS he was told that his dream may not be a reality until his dental work is complete. I know that he is not the only one at fault and of course as a parent you never wish for your child to have to endure what Daylin has over the last few years. Which Includes terrible tooth pain, infections, tooth breakage, and most of all him not wanting to smile because of low confidence because of his teeth. We went to multiple dentists. The cheapest one, even with insurance costs 12,000. This is a process that can revive his adult teeth. We would not like to go the route of making him get dentures as the dentist said he is far to young. This dentist also said their is a possibility of getting the price down to 6,000 if he had a letter of recommendation from his recruiter stating he needed dental work before he could enlist. His recruiter has written the letter in good faith that Daylin will be able to join next year. But another obstacle is that we currently only have 3,000. I know that it’s is hard to give money to a cause when you do not know the person. But we are desperate to help make his dreams come true. As a parent I couldn’t imagine my son being disappointed by not following the career path he has wanted for the past 4 years and it would break my heart to never see my son smile. Any little bit is a appreciated. I know that we are all struggling at times. Thank you for reading Daylin’s story and please even if you can’t help please share.
