When you think about Daylin, you probably think of love, laughter, light, silliness, kitties, happy times, wild flowers, yoga, art, tacos, deliciousness, and all kinds of quirky, happy and wellnessy things. You probably do not think of a person who is having a serious health scare. But, horrifically, that is exactly what is happening at this time.
Our magical DayDay is going through a truly debilitating health crisis that has quite literally flipped her entire life upside-down. She has had to spend days in emergency care at the hospital for Ulcerative Colitis that rapidly developed into advanced Crohn’s, rheumatoid arthritis and other “bizarre complications” of the autoimmune disease. She is in a lot of pain and this has caused her to be immobile until the medications and time to heal begin to work.
She is now going on a year-long treatment of methotrexate and Remicade biologic infusions to help heal the extensive damage caused by all the inflammation. She has lost a lot of weight and has to have all-day care. She is constantly in pain due to the arthritis and other debilitating symptoms caused by the severity of the autoimmune disease. Obviously she is unable to work or do much of anything at all besides focus on trying to get well. She is hoping to go on disability, however, as you can imagine her medical bills are already an enormous source of stress, not to mention those she still has coming.
On top of all this, she is also being forced to move out of her home, due to toxic mold, and now has to find something new in the midst of everything else. Moving is obviously stressful anyway, but she isn’t able to work or even care for herself and moving costs aren’t easy at the best of times.
If you know Daylin, you know how dedicated she is to holistic health, nutrition and natural remedies and wellness practices. Having to go this highly medicated route is obviously foreign and challenging for her, although she is incredibly grateful to be getting the care and some relief from all the pain she’s been living with. However, for the long-term, after she has had the necessary medical procedures to get back to a baseline of health, we want to help her get back on a sustainable path that is in alignment with who she is, what she values, and what she has dedicated most of her life to: natural & holistic health.
We are hoping to gain some support for our beautiful friend/sister who means so much to so many of us for SO many reasons and in so many ways. Hopefully to help with medical bills as well as moving and living expenses, and then to get her on a sustainable long-term path to health with acupuncture and alternative treatments, we are asking for anything at all that you are able to give.
