A message from Dax: 18 years ago, I sat in a room with my closest friends, confidants, and some family. A dear friend and spiritual director led a process called "A Clearness Committee" out of the Quaker tradition. The questions on the table were about Gender Affirming Care (GAC). While I knew myself to be a trans person and had been living openly, I was not yet sure if that meant accessing medical care for transition. After hours of asking gentle questions, taking silence, and listening to inner wisdom that I associate with the God of my understanding, I knew that gender transition with medical care was my path. Unfortunately, it is a costly path for those of us who do not have Gender Affirming Care in our benefit insurance packages. That's been my reality for the last 18 years, paying out of pocket for what I can, and practicing mindful acceptance and patience for what was too cost-prohibitive. With the encouragement of my dear friend, Jane, and my family, I am opening myself to asking for help for this next step to be a lived reality.

As a transgender man, Dax has been on a courageous path of self-discovery, and now he's ready to take the next step by undergoing top surgery. Dax's resilience and humor have touched the lives of so many around him. Whether it's cracking jokes to lift spirits or lending a listening ear, he has a unique ability to bring joy to those around him. Now, it's our turn to rally behind him and show our support. Every donation, no matter the size, brings Dax closer to achieving his goal and living authentically as his true self.
