Hi friends,
I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of my friend, whose 5-and-a-half-month-old Belgian Malinois puppy, Dax, is currently fighting for his life.
Dax recently began showing signs of serious illness—bloody diarrhea and vomiting—and was rushed to the emergency vet on July 17th. Initial x-rays showed no obstruction, and he was sent home with antibiotics and fluids. That visit alone cost $700.
Unfortunately, his condition quickly worsened, and it was discovered that Dax had an intestinal obstruction on the 21st, caused by eating dirt and rocks, a behavior not uncommon in curious young pups. He was rushed into emergency surgery tonight, where they had to remove over a foot of his intestines. The obstruction was dangerously close to his cecum and colon, which puts him at high risk for complications like sepsis and leakage at the surgical site.
The surgery is not only high-risk, but the costs are overwhelming—expected to exceed $10,000. Dax may also need to be transferred to a specialist in East Greenwich for more advanced care depending on how he recovers.
His owner just had to put 4.1k down for his to cover tonight’s surgery, but the mounting bills and uncertainty ahead make this situation incredibly difficult. Dax is so young, and he deserves every chance to fight through this and live a full, happy life.
If you are able to donate, even a few dollars, it would mean the world. All funds will go directly toward Dax’s veterinary bills, post-op care, and any necessary specialist treatment.
Please share, send prayers, and help support Dax and his family so he can pull through!
