For the lovers of kids and sports ❤️
I’m the proud mama of a super talented superstar Goalie who worked incredibly hard to get where he is, hopefully after reading my story - you’ll be proud too!
A little backstory - as of Sept this year (2024) exactly one year ago our 9 year old (at the time) begged us to play Goalie. I think his plan was actually to play Ice Hockey but as a test of interest we tried Ball Hockey, got some used gear from a local shop as well as scrounged up a few things off Marketplace - put it altogether and off he went, signed up for beginners House League being an new member he started for a Team called Avalanche.
Immediately, it was as if he played for years! It just came natural - practicing with his dad night after night (who just happened to be a Goalie himself - years ago and was in tryouts for London Knights!) to be “the best he can be”, pulling tricks out - I’d say you only see in the NHL for a 9 year old! Playing a few more seasons for a few more teams getting hammered with dedication to the work he needed to level up even more, it just got better and better. Parents talked about him, kids cheered for him and wanted to be just like him, Coaches couldn’t even scheme against him!
He only after a few short months caught the eye of a Rep Hockey Coach who needed a goalie for a large Winter Tournament, he was down, took the job! They didn’t win the Championship but it certainly broke open the REAL Goalie we thought we had already seen.
The Brantford Royals Competitive League invited him to a tryout and immediately became part of the Royals Family, who he’s been loyal to ever since!
After Tournament after Tournament after House League after House League, game after game, he heard of an even bigger opportunity that he aimed for already (at age 13) but came much sooner than expected….came as a shock to us as well!! lol
United World Games which lets say is kind of like a Mini Olympics in Sports (see link) https://unitedworldgames.com/en/about-us/history-vision/ introduced for the first time EVER in Klagenfrut Austria coming June 2025, age 11 Ball Hockey also part of the WBDHF Association https://www.wbdhf.com 4 tryouts were held in Ontario and one in Quebec with two mandatory appearances.
Our son received a big email congratulating him on making the Team at now age 10. We are sooo proud of him!
BUT…..before trying out not all of the costs are always disclosed, especially for families travelling together and due to his age it’s not possible for him to travel without his family. Here comes the sad part….not all families can afford it or afford all of it. Fundraising and donations are a meaningful way without large social crowds or events to otherwise fund the trip which is a total of 9 days abroad. We are only asking to help us raise what we can to allow our son and family to be able to go, watch and achieve the dream he’s worked so soo hard for and represent Canada and bring home the Gold Medal! An experience not many will ever get!
There is no small amount, every donation means so much to us as well as our boy Dax! We appreciate all of you for an effort you make. Even if you cannot donate as I realize this is not a sense of urgency or higher need over others, just sharing this would be of tremendous help.
Your thoughtful donations will help take a bite out of the price per person costs as well as all incidentals along the way including food, airport parking and fees, gear, travel expenses, passports, activities around the event, and additional support for the entire team. Together we can give Canada a great chance to win! Dax is a key component to the win and a valuable teammate cheering on all he knows and for all their efforts. Your help keeps him part of this team. I consider all of you part of his incredible journey ❤️ and are grateful for even taking the time to read our story ❤️
Let’s go Canada!
