Help Dawood's Wife and Son Join Him in NYC
Donation protected
Dawood Mayom is a recipient of one of Columbia University's scholarships for displaced students, currently studying toward his master's degree in social work. Originally from South Sudan, Dawood was first displaced within Sudan before receiving threats against his life, forcing him to flee to Egypt. Living alone as a young refugee, Dawood began volunteering to help members of his community in Cairo as a psycho-social worker, eventually winning a scholarship to complete his bachelors degree at the American University in Cairo.
In 2020, Dawood managed to win one of Columbia University's prestigious scholarships for displaced students, only thirty of which are offered each year to the world's more than 82 million displaced peoples. But while Dawood is fully-funded to complete his degree, he was forced to leave his wife and young son behind in Egypt. In order to bring them to the U.S., Dawood needs $10,000 to support them while living in New York city.
After graduating from Columbia, Dawood hopes to go on to complete his PhD in social work and eventually wants to return to South Sudan to directly help his community. Let's make sure that Dawood can bring his wife and son to the U.S. to watch him graduate from Columbia University in Spring 2022!
